Are you a leader, in a factory, in a team, are you a coach, to other leaders or in a sporting environment?
Where does the capacity to persevere come from? Self concept, confidence, drive, motivation ... What do these words really mean? Each is a neural pathway created by our life experience, often at the hands of those who lead us, as parents, teachers, peers, bosses - leadership is something done 'by example'. Walking the talk is a greater responsibility than many comprehend. You lead by example if you know it or not, what kind of example do you set? Do you inspire or demotivated, bolster or intimidate, liberate or control ... Are your actions consistent with your words or are you a walking contradiction? All of these things determine organisational performance in the form of individuals performing together. Just for fun - enjoy ;-)
I ask this, because, when we are 'right', we don't hear the words that are said, all we can hear are the words in our head,
We don't take on-board some other mans view, because it's a threat to hear words that are new. Why do you use so many words they do say, my answer is simple, "because they're OK!" If I have words, you haven't learned yet, then that is the point! Eat them up! Catch them! Like fish in a net. Sometimes a problem, Einstein imparted, can't be solved with the same thoughts and thinks in your head, as those you had when you started. To grow a new vision, to learn something new is sometimes a complex concept to chew. We know, It's better to be taught and learn how to fish, than rely on others to keep filling our dish. And rhyming it seems, allows the wisdom to flow, I have a view which needs words you don't know, does that mean you shouldn't give them a go? If you conquer your fears and let down your guard, we can share the words I provide, then you'll be equipped to come along for the ride. - DR Bovis “Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” ― Dr. Seuss I agree, I agree, yet sometimes the reverse is the case. Questions are simple and complex answers need time to chase, they can't be learned in a blink of an eye ... 'post-haste'.Like 'why don't you smile more - that question is ever so simple', but answered, when we know the 10th cranial 'vagus' nerve connects with your dimple. - DR Bovis “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss Another to test my rhyming agility, but i'll never even try if I don't first believe I have the ability.- DR Bovis “A person's a person, no matter how small.” ― Dr. Seuss A truer word would be hard to muster, no matter how small or big the word cluster. The person inside is the one who stands tall, if the input he has doesn't make him feel small. If the input from others doesn't form a good neural net, the choices he makes can provide hope for him yet. - DR Bovis “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not.” ― Dr. Seuss Sometimes, sometimes, we can feel like stopping, when others continue to give us a knocking, but remember, when you have something good to give, one day your actions may improve the way others live. - DR Bovis “Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!” ― Dr. Seuss Thinking, Oh! Thinking you wonderful thing, we can think of a square or think of a ring. Where all that is asked is for a shape to consider, our thoughts can flow like a torrential river. But, only when innovation is known, to be part of brain function requiring a tome. - DR Bovis “If things start happening, don't worry, don't stew, just go right along and you'll start happening too.” ― Dr. Seuss Worry is a fantastically powerful word, it takes a neural process and makes it absurd. BDNF in your brain grows new cells, like plants in manure, worry attacks this substance making change insecure; but everyone worries, so what's the allure? - DR Bovis “Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.” ― Dr. Seuss Mr Python said, always look on the bright side of life, if you don't it's only you, you can blame for your worry and strife. - DR Bovis “All alone! Whether you like it or not, alone is something you'll be quite a lot!” ― Dr. Seuss The concept of together is such a strange thing, whether loose as in friendship or sealed with a ring. Physically, of course, we can be together, but inside our brain, is where we sail alone, in all kinds of weather. - DR Bovis “Adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them.” ― Dr. Seuss Leaders will do well to remember, the child inside others, who responds to your temper. - DR Bovis “Only you can control your future.” ― Dr. Seuss We make our own luck. The moment you hear yourself saying 'it's not fair', be brave, look in the mirror, but look at yourself, not at your hair, or what isn't there. - DR Bovis “I'm afraid that sometimes you'll play lonely games too. Games you can't win 'cause you'll play against you.” ― Dr. Seuss I can't really add to that one - genius! ;-) You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...
"If you measure me irrationally
I will behave irrationally, If you change the way you measure me I will change the way I behave, If you don't explain how you are measuring me & why, No one will know how I will behave (least of all me). If you beat me when I report the truth as I see it, Then I will find a way to make the truth match your expectations & avoid the beating" Such human reactions to measures are wired into the brain. Neurologically. Psychologically. The depths are immense, but simple summaries like this provide a window into the issues of fear based control, often at root of unsustainable CI programmes. Such awareness in leadership teams has the potential to revolutionise the standard approach toward organisational performance improvement. Duxinaroe are pleased to be at the forefront of activities bringing a new level of understanding into the workplace, helping to make change more effective and performance improvements sustainable at a cultural level. People often ask us, "what is it exactly, that we do?" The answer is simple; at Dux, we give people a map of change that hasn't previously existed in the world of organisational performance improvement... and as we all know, when we have a map, we can better understand where we're going, how long it will take to get there, what preparations we need to make for the journey and what alternate routes are possible if we take a wrong turn, get delayed or get diverted. This map has 4 cardinal points; 1. Process and variation control (lean / six sigma (SPC) / technology / process flow / best practice etc.), 2. Systems and systemic control (ERP / MIS / Policy / Procedure / Strategy / Work flow / Forecasting etc.) 3. Psychology (the +ve and -ve reactions of people toward processes and systems (1) & (2)) & 4. Neuroscience (the brain and how it changes relative to its environment and experience). Where organisations have opened themselves up to this new level of knowledge, they have entered into a new era of change, seeing 7 year loss making trends turned around in a matter of a few months, site moves costing millions of pounds halted and turnover tripled in the same space, sales forecasts and growth plans totally restructured to move leadership teams and boards of directors away from Vain turnover to Sane profit, global roll-out programs enhanced and strategies generated which are 'psychologically congruent' ensuring people performance is maximised. The approach to change is changing ... if you don't want to get left behind, call us today 020 3713 3420 or send us your details on our inquiry page here If you have leadership development needs, Lean change programs stalling or needing a boost, H&S performance improvement requirements or any other business performance improvement needs that involve people navigating change efficiently and effectively, we can help and look forward to talking to you soon. |
