The Key that unlocks successful and sustainable (Lean) change

When you think about it, the more senior the position you hold in an organisation, the more things you have to be responsible for, so the less time you have to attend to the detail, leading to sayings like 'Don't sweat the small stuff'.

Yet we all know that there is wisdom in the sayings of the past, 'Every drop makes an ocean', 'The devil is in the detail' and 'Take care of the edges and the middle will take care of itself'. (Not to mention eating an elephant one mouthful at a time).

So have we missed a trick? Do we need to sweat the small stuff as part of our responsibility for achieving the big, broad objectives?

These kind of medical advances are what make the world of neuroscience so amazing. The identification of the influence of mTOR over dendritic / synaptic pruning is an amazing discovery, promising to lead to the treatment and or cure of autism through psychiatric intervention. This may also lead to a deeper knowledge at a psychological level, potentially leading to the identification of any prevailing conditions which might act as a trigger for greater or lesser mTOR influence over the autophagy process in pre-natal and early years development phases. At Duxinaroe, we rely on this level of science to inform us in our application of Neuroscience and Psychology in everyday life and change environments involving people. We thank all those MP's and scientists dedicating their time and budgets to the latest brain science development activities. Fantastic work!

A CEO walks into a bar and ask's, "What's the difference between leadership today and leadership following the latest advances in neuroscience?"

It sounds like the start of a joke, but in this case there is no short sharp and jovial punch line. There is an answer! But it's not something we can consider in 140 characters or similar sound-byte. This is a big subject, with a plethora of differing beliefs vying to become the de-facto method to use when applying the new knowledge pouring into the world from the recently funded neuroscience programmes now underway globally.

Until the recent and amazing technological advances in the fantastic world of neuroscience, it has often been said that we've 'Understood function from dysfunction'.
