‘What we can learn about working with Organizations from modern Brain science’ ?
This will be the theme of the talk our Managing Director, David Bovis, will give at the Deming Alliance on the afternoon of the June 9th 2014 (PM Session - i.e. after lunch onwards, estimated start time 13:00).
The event will be held at the Brittannia Royal Court Hotel, Keresley, Coventry CV7 8JG.
David has recently been asked to contribute to the Lean MSc for Buckingham University on the 'Systems' and 'Change' modules for 2015 and will cover the basics of similar content in his talk prepared specifically for the Deming Alliance, to detail some of the mechanisms and connectivity behind the SoPK.
The talk will include, among other things;
- Connections between brain function and the development of knowledge
- Current conflicts between Psychology and Systems
- KPI conflicts across functions and the importance of a deeper approach to alignment
- Reasons why resistance to change is natural and what prevailing conditions are required to minimise it
- Why it's difficult to set a 'psychologically congruent strategy' with current thinking and best practice leadership methods.
We hope you can make it and look forward to taking your questions at the event.
For more information, please contact the Deming Alliance directly via their website
We're very happy to have been invited to contribute to the Lean MSc at Buckingham University by John Bicheno (Of 'The Lean Toolbox' fame) and we look forward to developing the 'Systems' and 'Change' modules with Dr. Pauline Found in the coming months, ready for next year.
"Having recently undertaken a two day training course with Duxinaroe on 'Change, Culture and Communications' I can honestly say it was the best training that I have ever received. David's approach to addressing issues from a different angle made sure it was interesting and engaging throughout. I couldn't recommend David highly enough."

Thanks JB - from all at Duxinaroe, your kind words are much appreciated.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
I like these words of wisdom as they existed on a plaque just inside the front door of my parents house for many years. I also appreciate the Desiderata, the 8 fold path and the 7 Hermetic principles as presented by the Kybalion, but the words above are more popular and widespread in the western world. As I've discovered more about neuroscience and psychology, the more this particular verse has made sense; so I thought i'd unpack it a little, a few words at a time, to see if I could share some of the thoughts that whizz through my grey matter when considering this passage today
Future being 1.
Did you hear the one about the world of creatures called 'Humans' who, despite having 1000's of years speculating about the reasons they acted in the way they did, and what was 'good' for them individually and in groups, they failed to change even after they had the science to clarify those 1000's of years of speculation?
